1 Corinthians 13
I imagine a guy in the church that is a powerful speaker and has incredible knowledge of bible doctrines. His prayers are full of incredible faith in what God can and will do. He is known for his sacrificial giving to the church and the local homeless community. His only small fault is that he isn't really that patient or kind... and he is a bit arrogant. Most seem to overlook this though because, well, he knows his bible and man can the guy can teach a Sunday school!
What does the bible say about this man (or woman)? If they have not love, they have nothing. They have gained nothing.
If we feel as if you have recently lacked many of these traits of love, what must we do then? 1 John 4:8 says that God not only loves those in Christ, He actually IS love. This means we should read through 1 Cor. 13:4-8a and ponder just how patient and kind God is toward us. I love that God is not irritable, easily angered or that He doesn't keep record of my many many wrongs. Rejoice with me this morning that if you are in Christ, God's intimate love for you will bear and endure all things until you see Him face to face. Let such enduring kindness seep into the cracks of where you lack it from others. Let such hopeful delight overflow into others who need it today.
